Out of everything we do and products we buy to live a non-toxic chemical free life, laundry detergent should be one of our top concerns. We’re exposed to it 24 hours a day, even if we sleep naked, we wash our sheets in the laundry detergent. It’s on our clothes and our pillowcases, and our undergarments… right next to our reproductive organs. Many of the chemicals, sprays, and additives that we are exposed to daily are endocrine disruptors. This interferes with our hormones, the endocrine system. (that’s a whole nother can of worms… Gut/brain connection, depression, anxiety, concentration, fertility, etc.) Common places we find endocrine disruptors are food/beverage, detergents, toys, plastic water bottles, and cosmetics. Suggestions: shop local (farmers markets) and ask about chemicals or sprays, use glass instead of plastic. RESEARCH your daily routine products. Don’t have time? Ask someone you know and trust and ask where they got their information.
We are exposed to thousands of chemicals each and everyday in the air we breathe, water we drink, and food we eat. Taking steps to change this can be overwhelming. Start with small steps ... learn, grow, spread your wings, shine and have fun!
Making your own cleaning products, and even stuff for the yard, is easy using essential oils and vinegar (Sometimes mouthwash, sometimes cheap beer, and sometimes dish soap… Depending on what you’re doing). These 2 are my two favorite picks for laundry detergent. One can be ordered on Amazon, the other through Doterra.
